Although shot size (melt cushion) has a large impact on gas bubble length and material accumulations at the end of the bubble, it is important to note that the residual wall thickness varies little and is not significantly influenced by a change in shot size.

A study using Makrolon® 2458 polycarbonate shows that the wall thickness increased by less than 0.5mm when the shotsize was increased.
